about

This album was recorded over the course of 5 years by Kevin O'Meara for 'What's The Frequency?', a radio program on CKCU 93.1FM. Featuring artists from Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Atlanta, Halifax, and elsewhere, all the songs were all recorded live off the floor on unceded Algonquin territory, in the urban space also known as Ottawa.

CKCU, Carleton University's campus radio station, used to release exclusive compilation cassettes throughout the 1980s and 90s. In the spirit of those campus radio golden days, Kevin O'Meara of What's The Frequency (Tuesday nights from 10-11) culled together this compilation for CKCU's annual funding drive. All proceeds from this charity album will be donated directly to the station to keep it going for another 40+ years.

I offer my gratitude to the 100+ people who appeared on this album and guested on the show over the years. Thank you for providing the art that brings meaning to your communities, for inspiring me to stay creative, and for granting your permission to be included on this compilation for a good cause. If anything, may this album be a testament to the fact that independent music is alive and well, and will never die so long as there are media like CKCU that lets alternative culture thrive and grow.

An extra special thanks to Raf Finn, Pat Lemieux, and Grey Lorbetskie for their exceptional help in making this album come together.
